The New York Yankees suffered their seventh loss in ten games against the Toronto Blue Jays this season, falling 8-4 on Wednesday in a game riddled with costly mistakes.

The defeat was marked by a string of defensive blunders. Starting pitcher Max Fried threw two wild pitches in the fifth inning, then made an errant throw on a slow roller down the third-base line that allowed two runs to score. In the sixth, outfielder Cody Bellinger lost a fly ball in the lights, resulting in a triple, and first baseman Ben Rice mishandled a ball that led to another Blue Jays run.

In total, the Yankees committed four errors—their second-highest total in a single game this season. While team captain Aaron Judge acknowledged the defensive struggles, he also expressed confidence that the team is poised for a turnaround.

“Our hot streak is coming,” Judge said. “We haven’t hit it yet, but when we do, watch out.”

Aaron Judge believes a hot streak is around the corner for the Yankees.

Still, Judge emphasized the importance of cleaning up the team’s defense.

“We haven’t been sharp in the field,” he admitted. “With the off day coming up, it’s time to reset and sharpen things up. Giving extra outs to good teams like this will only hurt us.”

The Yankees (56-46) now trail the first-place Blue Jays by four games in the AL East and will next face the Philadelphia Phillies (58-44) in their upcoming series.
