In just a matter of days, Tennessee football has received some outstanding recruiting news under Josh Heupel and his coaching staff. The latest highlight is offensive tackl, an in-state commit, who has now been elevated to 5-star status.

Surprised? You read that right—247Sports recently updated its rankings for the 2026 class, and He has moved up from a 4-star to a 5-star prospect. With this boost, he’s now considered one of the premier offensive tackles in the nation. Needless to say, this is a huge win for the program.

Tennessee commit Gabriel Osenda is now a 5-star playmaker per 247Sports

Osenda is clearly thrilled about his decision—and rightfully so. When he committed to Tennessee in January, he was a four-star prospect ranked No. 70 nationally. Since then, his stock has skyrocketed.

He’s now considered the No. 4 offensive tackle and the No. 19 overall recruit in the 2026 class. Standing at 6-foot-7 and 330 pounds, Osenda received 28 scholarship offers during his recruitment but ultimately chose Tennessee over Florida, South Carolina, and Minnesota.

With Osenda on board, Josh Heupel has now landed a five-star offensive tackle in back-to-back classes. In 2025, David Sanders Jr. signed with the Vols despite a strong late push from Ohio State and Ryan Day. Concerns about a potential flip never materialized.

This commitment is also encouraging for Faizon Brandon, the top-ranked quarterback in the 2026 class. He’ll have elite protection in front of him with both Sanders and Osenda anchoring the line. The Vols’ future offense looks even brighter with wide receiver Tyreek King also committing and firmly shutting down his recruitment. Tennessee’s staff has plenty to celebrate on the recruiting trail.
