Vegas Golden Knights defenseman may be on the trade block this offseason and is reportedly drawing significant interest, now including the Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens, according to Nick Kypreos.
The Philadelphia Flyers were the first team linked to Him, and with three first-round picks in this year’s draft, they’re viewed as a strong candidate to land him. The Canadiens also hold multiple first-rounders, while the Penguins have just one—but all three teams possess the assets to make a deal work.
A recent report raising concerns about Alex Pietrangelo’s health for the 2025–26 season could influence how Golden Knights GM Kelly McCrimmon approaches Hague’s future. Drafted in 2017, Hague debuted in the 2019–20 season and has become a key part of Vegas’ blue line.
The 26-year-old is a pending restricted free agent and is likely due for a significant raise, which is one reason Vegas is exploring trade options. While the team isn’t actively shopping him, they’re open to offers.

“The Golden Knights have just over \$9.6 million in cap space and a few roster holes to address. Word is, they’re listening to calls on Nic Hague, who’s set to become an RFA on July 1 and is expected to earn a sizable payday,” wrote David Pagnotta in his latest “Start of Silly Season” column.
“Sources say Vegas has already begun engaging in trade talks involving Hague. He offers size, responsibility, and championship experience to any team looking to reinforce its defense. Expect multiple teams to check in as the draft approaches.”
Vegas faces some tough choices with Hague’s future and their pursuit of another elite forward looming.
