The 2025 MLB trade deadline is scheduled for 3 p.m. PT on July 31, and many are closely watching what moves the Seattle Mariners might make.
Heading into Wednesday, the Mariners held sole possession of the second American League Wild Card spot and trailed the Houston Astros by five games in the AL West.

Seattle is expected to be one of the more active teams ahead of the deadline. The club has reportedly already explored a potential deal for Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suárez, considered one of the top hitters available.
This will be manager Dan Wilson’s first trade deadline at the helm, and he spoke Wednesday about the fluid nature of this year’s market, while also expressing faith in the roster he currently has.

“It’s an unusual market this year because so many teams are still in contention,” Wilson said before facing the Milwaukee Brewers.
“Some haven’t decided whether they’re buying or selling. Based on everything we’re hearing, something will likely happen, but right now there’s still a lot of uncertainty. This clubhouse has something special — we’ve felt that all year. This team has real potential as is. Everyone in there is a competitor.”
Although Wilson is confident in his players, he acknowledged the Mariners are always seeking ways to improve both internally and through potential acquisitions.

He also emphasized that he’s staying informed throughout the process by president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto and general manager Justin Hollander.
“There’s definitely been communication,” Wilson said. “But again, there’s a lot still up in the air. I expect this week to be interesting, and I think most of the activity will come closer to the deadline than earlier. That’s just where things seem to stand right now.”
