The Philadelphia Phillies are reportedly considering significant roster changes this offseason, leaving few players guaranteed a spot for the 2025 season. Stars like Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, and their top pitchers are likely safe, but beyond them, the team is open to trade offers.

One notable name rumored to be on the trade block is All-Star third baseman Alec Bohm. With free agency looming after the 2026 season, Bohm is projected to command a seven-year, $142 million contract. This past season, he delivered a solid .280/.332/.448 slash line with 44 doubles.

Salk: No thanks on a Seattle Mariners trade for 3B Alec Bohm

According to FanSided’s Christopher Kline, the Phillies are expected to entertain offers for Bohm and could trade him this winter. Kline explained, “The Phillies want Alex Bregman or Willy Adames at third base, which means moving on from Alec Bohm. The 28-year-old just earned his first All-Star nod, but his late-season struggles left Philadelphia in a tough spot during the playoffs. Manager Rob Thomson even benched Bohm briefly in the NLDS as his swing fell apart when the team needed him most.”

A trade could make sense if the Phillies can acquire a top-tier starting pitcher and find a reliable replacement at third base. However, this strategy carries significant risk. If Philadelphia trades Bohm but fails to secure an adequate return, they could jeopardize their championship aspirations for the next year or two.
