The New York Mets have been linked to free-agent outfielder Juan Soto, but president of baseball operations David Stearns also faces the challenge of securing a primary center fielder for 2025.

One intriguing possibility could involve striking a deal with the Chicago White Sox for outfielder. Despite being limited to just 100 games in 2024 due to injuries, He managed a .224/.278/.379 slash line with 14 home runs, 19 doubles, 35 RBI, 47 runs, and 23 steals. However, injuries have been a recurring issue for Him, as he has played more than 100 games only once since 2021.

Still, his potential when healthy is undeniable. In 2023, he showcased his talent by slashing .264/.315/.542 with 38 home runs, 36 doubles, 80 RBI, 90 runs, and 20 steals across 145 games. That performance earned him his first All-Star nod, a Silver Slugger Award, and a 12th-place finish in American League MVP voting. At 27, Robert also remains a strong defensive player, having won a Gold Glove Award as a rookie in 2020.

Trade possibilities for Luis Robert Jr - El Fildeo

If the Mets were to target Robert, what might it take to land him? Bleacher Report’s Zachary D. Rymer proposed a potential trade:

– **Mets receive:** OF Luis Robert Jr.
– **White Sox receive:** INF Ronny Mauricio and RHP Blade Tidwell

Robert’s contract situation adds another layer of intrigue. He’s entering the final year of a six-year, $50 million deal, which includes club options for 2026 and 2027, both worth $20 million. This structure offers the Mets the flexibility of keeping him for up to three seasons without being locked into a long-term commitment.
