The New York Mets are aiming to replicate the success they had with their starting pitching last season. They brought in reclamation projects like Luis Severino and Sean Manaea, both of whom turned into standout performers.
However, their impressive performances may have priced them out of New York. Severino has already signed a three-year deal with the Athletics, and Manaea could be on his way out as well.
Kerry Miller from Bleacher Report recently predicted that Manaea would leave the Mets in free agency, with a potential move to the Baltimore Orioles on a $72 million contract.

Miller suggested that if the soon-to-be 33-year-old pitcher can sustain his performance for a few more years, he would be an incredible value at either a three-year, $60 million deal or a four-year, $72 million deal. He also noted that while a massive deal for Corbin Burnes is unlikely for Baltimore, pairing Manaea with Zach Eflin and Grayson Rodriguez could work well for the Orioles’ rotation.
The Orioles are clearly in need of a pitcher, though it’s unlikely they can afford Burnes, who is expected to sign with a team offering over $230 million. Manaea, while a riskier option due to his ERAs of 4.44 and 4.96 in the past two seasons, would come at a significantly lower cost. Nonetheless, the Orioles need to add a top-tier pitcher, and Manaea could be a viable option.
