Things could have taken a serious downturn in Tuscaloosa this offseason.
NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported that an AFC coordinator told him,
“We heard all the skill players at Alabama would’ve transferred if Milroe returned.”
That’s a bold claim, especially considering Jalen Milroe is viewed as a top prospect for the 2025 NFL Draft — but it’s not entirely surprising.
Milroe appeared to take a step back as a passer between his redshirt sophomore and junior seasons. His decision-making in the pocket was questionable at times, and his passing lacked the sharpness expected at that level. Alabama’s receivers frequently dealt with off-target throws and were often put in tough spots.

While Milroe’s athleticism as a runner shined — he led the team with 726 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns — it sometimes came at the expense of a balanced offense. The running backs were occasionally overshadowed, and the overall offensive unit experienced significant inconsistency throughout the year.
Given how up-and-down the offense was, it’s understandable why some skill players might have considered transferring if Milroe stayed.
Fortunately for Alabama, Milroe is off to the NFL, and the Crimson Tide managed to keep most of their top offensive talent intact.
