The LA Chargers brought back former wide receiver Mike Williams earlier this offseason, which has naturally led fans to wonder about a potential return for Keenan Allen.

Allen has been clear about wanting to play only in Los Angeles or Chicago next season. With the Bears and Rams seemingly off the table, there’s a strong chance for Allen to rejoin the Chargers, assuming the team is interested.

It remains to be seen if Allen is truly committed to playing only in Los Angeles or Chicago. Chargers fans will certainly hope that’s the case because, if not, there’s a possibility that Allen could end up with one of the worst teams in the league.

In a recent article discussing the best fits for remaining free agents, Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox mentioned one team that Chargers fans certainly don’t want to hear as a potential destination for Allen: the Denver Broncos.

Keenan Allen joining the Broncos is a literal nightmare for Chargers fans

Knox suggests that any team interested in Cooper Kupp should also consider Keenan Allen, as both have similar skill sets. The Broncos, who were in the market for Kupp before he signed with the Seattle Seahawks, could be a potential landing spot for Allen.

However, it seems the Broncos hesitated at Kupp’s price tag, which wouldn’t be an issue with Allen. His free-agent value is expected to be lower than Kupp’s, potentially costing a team around $10 million per season for a 1-2 year deal.

The idea of Allen signing with one of the Chargers’ biggest rivals would be a tough pill for fans to swallow, especially considering how well he would fit with the Broncos. He could take over the slot position in Denver, providing young quarterback Bo Nix with a reliable target and a consistent separator on the outside.

If Allen is truly only open to playing in Los Angeles or Chicago, this wouldn’t be a concern for the Chargers. However, if the Chargers aren’t interested, it would be hard for Allen to turn down a lucrative offer to continue his career.

Knox also mentioned the Las Vegas Raiders as a potential fit, though that seems less likely. The Raiders are not in a strong position to contend, unlike the Chargers and Broncos, which might make Allen hesitate if they showed interest.

That said, Allen grew up in the Bay Area and once stirred some controversy by posting a photo of himself in a Raiders hat after being drafted in 2013. If signing with the Raiders was a childhood dream, that could influence his decision.
