Earlier this month, the Giants re-signed left-handed pitcher to a minor league contract, according to his MLB.com profile. After becoming a minor league free agent following the season, He is set to return for his third year with San Francisco’s organization.

He, drafted in the 18th round by Cleveland in 2016, missed his pro debut until 2018 due to Tommy John surgery. He became a minor league free agent after the 2022 season and joined the Giants that winter. After parting ways with the team last fall, he briefly played for a Mexican League team, but re-signed with the Giants on a minor league deal last April.

This return led to His first and only major league appearance, where he gave up one run on three hits in a single inning of relief during the Giants’ 5-4 victory over the Cubs. Shortly after his debut, he was designated for assignment and removed from the 40-man roster.

Throughout his minor league career, mainly as a reliever, Burgos has posted solid numbers, including a 3.38 ERA, a 22% strikeout rate, and a 7.5% walk rate over 48 innings in Triple-A.

While his strikeout rate may not be exceptional, he has been effective against left-handed batters. With Taylor Rogers and Erik Miller expected to be the Giants’ primary left-handed relievers, adding Burgos provides additional depth for the bullpen, especially at the Triple-A level.
