DailyFaceoff recently unveiled a new trade bait board, and one name that immediately stood out is a New York native—Trevor Zegras. Whether or not he’s truly available has been a topic of debate for years, but the New York Rangers have long held interest in the flashy forward.

Zegras sits 30th on Frank Seravalli’s new trade board, with speculation growing due to his current situation and past rumors of dissatisfaction in Anaheim.

The Ducks may look to move on from the former 9th overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, leaving an opening for teams like the Rangers to make a move for the reportedly disgruntled Bedford, New York native.

Known for his flashy style and ability to pull off the lacrosse move, Zegras has struggled to find consistent production in California.

This season, he has just six goals and nine assists for 16 points in 33 games, following a similar drop-off in production last season (six goals, nine assists in 31 games). However, his earlier seasons featured back-to-back 60-point campaigns, showing what he’s capable of when things click.

Zegras still has one year left on his contract at $5.75 million, but his tenure in Anaheim has been far from ideal. He’d be a good fit under the Rangers’ cap, offering flexibility as both a centerman and left-winger.

The Rangers could leverage future assets to acquire him at a lower price, providing Zegras with a fresh start before his value potentially rebounds. It’s a prime opportunity for Chris Drury to buy low and take a chance on a player with high upside.
