Shortly after the Rams saw Him III sign with the Panthers, they are now losing another defensive lineman, as Michael Hoecht has agreed to a three-year, $24 million deal with the Buffalo Bills.
While Carolina has been a frequent destination for former Rams players, Hoecht’s move to Buffalo creates a new pipeline, as he fills some of the snaps left vacant by Von Miller’s departure.
The Bills released Miller over the weekend.

Hoecht, who entered the league as an undrafted free agent, has defied expectations to earn his $24 million contract.

Despite his size making it unusual to label him an “edge rusher,” he has played multiple positions along the defensive front, from defensive tackle to outside linebacker. In 2022, when the Rams needed a low-cost option to step up, Hoecht delivered with 4.5 sacks. He followed that with six sacks in 2023 and three more in 2024.
While watching him drop into coverage was often nerve-wracking, he proved to be a reliable contributor over the past four seasons. Now, the former Brown University graduate heads to Buffalo, where he will reunite with Taylor Rapp.
