Nick Saban’s mother, Mary Pasko, passed away at the age of 92, and a reporter shared a memorable story about her.
Pasko’s obituary was published online on Thursday, prompting college football reporter Brett McMurphy to recount a fantastic story about her.
The story goes that in 2013, Pasko once called during an Alabama football practice and insisted on speaking to her son. Saban, who had been coaching Alabama since 2007, never took calls during practice, but he made an exception that day—he couldn’t ignore his mother.

And what was so urgent?
Pasko wanted to boast that she had just made a hole-in-one in golf, something her son had yet to achieve.
Talk about competitive spirit!
Clearly, Saban got his competitive nature from his mother. And for the record, the coach has since managed to get a few holes-in-one of his own.
