They brought in Saquon Barkley, Bryce Huff, Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, and Devin White, all of whom are expected to make a significant impact this fall. Additionally, they acquired quarterback Kenny Pickett in March, but recent updates aren’t favorable for him.
Eagles News: Tanner McKee Is Getting Second Team Reps
EJ Smith from the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that quarterback Tanner McKee was seen taking second-team reps during Sunday’s practice. This news might surprise some fans since the Eagles acquired Pickett in March. The trade involved the Steelers receiving a 2024 third-round pick and two 2025 seventh-round picks in exchange for Pickett and a 2024 fourth-round pick.
McKee has performed better than Pickett during the first two weeks of training camp, catching the attention of some fans after being drafted in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Even though he didn’t play last season, he has clearly impressed the coaching staff.
There was an expectation that Pickett would easily secure the No. 2 quarterback spot, but McKee is challenging him. Over two seasons, Pickett has completed 62% of his passes for 4,474 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. Those numbers aren’t very impressive, making the preseason crucial for Pickett to improve his standing on the depth chart.
The first preseason game is set for August 9 against the Baltimore Ravens, and Pickett will need to perform well to move up in the rankings.
