The Seattle Seahawks may insist their roster is mostly set heading into the 2025 season, but recent developments with the Dallas Cowboys could open the door for a game-changing addition. Contract negotiations between the Cowboys and superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons have reportedly broken down, with a frustrated Parsons even requesting a trade.
While Dallas may not ultimately grant that request, the Seahawks should at least force them to make a decision. Given Seattle’s glaring need for a true difference-maker on the edge and the financial flexibility to afford both a blockbuster trade and a major contract extension, they’re one of the few realistic landing spots.
Acquiring Parsons would likely cost the Seahawks significant draft capital and a young rising talent, but players of his caliber rarely hit the market. For general manager John Schneider, this could be the perfect moment to make a bold move and keep Seattle in the playoff mix in a fiercely competitive NFC West.

The Seahawks would be reuniting former Dallas standouts, having already added ex-Cowboys star Demarcus Lawrence this offseason. Parsons and Lawrence formed a dominant duo in Dallas, and Seattle hopes they can recreate that success.
Boye Mafe has been one of Seattle’s most successful draft picks in recent memory, tallying 15 sacks over the past two seasons and becoming one of the league’s top run-stopping edge rushers. Still, for a deal like this to happen, Seattle would need to be willing to part with a player they deeply value.
They could take inspiration from the Chicago Bears, who became immediate contenders—even with subpar quarterback play—after trading for Khalil Mack. A truly elite pass rusher can elevate a good team into serious contention.
While Mike Macdonald’s defense hasn’t yet matched the dominant units he coordinated in Baltimore, he also hasn’t had a weapon like Parsons at his disposal. If Sam Darnold lives up to expectations, the Seahawks could comfortably make the playoffs in a relatively open NFC.
