The New York Giants are probably considering all of their quarterback options as the NFL offseason approaches, and a common fan recommendation has been to make a trade offer for New England Patriots backup quarterback.
However, since Milton was only selected in the 2024 NFL Draft, it was unclear until recently whether the Patriots would even entertain trading for him. However, his availability is starting to seem more likely now.
On January 30, Boston Sports Journal reporter Greg A. Bedard reported, “I thought the Patriots would hold off on entertaining a trade of Joe Milton, who was drafted in the sixth round (193rd overall) last year, for at least another season, but there’s increasing belief around the NFL that the Patriots are at least contemplating a trade of Milton this offseason.” “Again, I’m not saying he’s on the market right now, but once the front office and coaching staff are in agreement, the Patriots will probably give it some thought.”

Bedard went on to explain why New England might have had a change of heart on this issue.
“What makes them do it? The Boston writer explained, “Mostly because the timing could be right, with this QB class being weak.” “The Senior Bowl quarterbacks were incredibly disappointing. And given Milton’s strong performance in the season finale, the Patriots might be striking while the iron is hot.
How Much Might Patriots QB Joe Milton Cost Giants via Trade?
Depending on who the Giants believe they can and should target this spring, you would probably trade for Milton in exchange for either a rookie or a veteran free agent signing.
In light of this, Bedard mentioned that some of the “league executives” he spoke with suggested Milton might bring as much as a 2025 third-round selection for the Patriots.

Would you rather select a Milton who has all the metrics, solid NFL film, and demonstrated that he can learn from coaching, or someone like Riley Leonard (Notre Dame), Dillon Gabriel (Oregon), or Jaxson Dart (Mississippi), who all lack something? Bedard inquired.
And if you are head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen at the moment, that is the crucial question. What is the best quarterback route to succeed in 2025 and beyond?
A third-round selection shouldn’t stop them from seizing the chance if they believe Milton’s dual-threat talent makes for a risk worth taking.
Giants Fans Debate Joe Milton Patriots Trade on X
Anthony Rivardo, managing editor of Empire Sports Media, asked his fans on January 31 if a Milton trade was possible.
Joe Milton possesses one of the NFL’s strongest arms, tools, and athleticism. showed some promise in Week 18. but requires time to mature. Do you think the Giants should take a chance on Milton by trading a mid- to late-round pick? He inquired.
Although there were differing opinions, most respondents appeared at least open to considering Milton given the appropriate trade price.
Indeed. If the best quarterbacks aren’t available, [Milton] must be a backup option to think about,” a fan wrote. “A good bridge year move would be Milton plus [a free agent] quarterback.”
In response, a less assured fan said: “Sixth round. Yes. However, I have a negative opinion as a Michigan fan. When he committed, I was ecstatic. Most powerful arm I’ve ever seen. But that’s saying something because he may be the worst quarterback Michigan has had in the last 15 years or so. appeared little better in Tennessee.
A third person wrote: “Yes, and start him with Jimmy [Garoppolo], but use him in offense on short yardage and the red zone.”
A fourth, however, stated that “I’m really on the Jaxson Dart bandwagon [right now], but I’d be down for it.”
“Does that mean you want them to draft a quarterback in one of the first two rounds, bring in a free agent quarterback, and trade for Milton?” asked a final NYG fan. Or do you not have a quarterback in mind?
It’s obvious that the prospect of Big Blue trading for Milton at least excites Giants supporters.
