The New York Giants must be feeling especially disappointed with this year’s Super Bowl outcome.
The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX, securing a championship for Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley, who earned his first career Super Bowl ring.
Former Eagles running back LeSean McCoy, who played for Philadelphia from 2009 to 2014, took to X to congratulate Barkley, adding a sarcastic thank-you to the Giants for parting ways with him. “So happy for @saquon way to bring us a chip bro,” McCoy wrote. “thank you giants.”

As bitter NFC East rivals, McCoy’s post definitely had a cheeky tone, in line with his nickname “Shady.”

Barkley had joined the Eagles in the offseason, after citing disrespectful contract negotiations with the Giants. Now, just one season after leaving New York, he has a Super Bowl title, joining former Giants players Kadarius Toney and Odell Beckham Jr. who also won championships shortly after their departures.
Although Barkley wasn’t particularly effective in the Super Bowl, rushing 25 times for just 57 yards, the Chiefs clearly focused on stopping him. With an incredible 2,005 rushing yards during the regular season and another 499 in the postseason, there’s no doubt the Eagles wouldn’t have reached this point without him.
With the championship in hand, Barkley may be ready to throw some more shade at his former team, just as he did during Super Bowl media week.
