The Las Vegas Raiders struggled in their season opener, losing 22-10 to the Los Angeles Chargers. A key area of concern was the offensive line’s performance.

Thayer Munford Jr., one of the linemen, shared his thoughts on the team’s first game of the 2024 season. “I believe we could have done better,” Munford admitted. “As an offensive line, we know we need to step up. If we’re not performing well as a unit, the team won’t succeed.”

While Munford felt he did okay individually, he acknowledged that the group as a whole must improve, starting with himself. The team struggled in the run game, with Zamir White and Alexander Mattison unable to find success behind the line, and the passing game fared little better. Quarterback Gardner Minshew didn’t have much time to throw, which contributed to the lackluster offense.

Despite the tough start, Munford knows what needs to change for the Raiders to succeed in their upcoming game against the Baltimore Ravens. “Blocking in short-yardage situations is different,” Munford explained. “The defense is more compact, and they often know what you’re trying to do. We need to be tougher and drive them off the ball.”

With a challenging matchup ahead, the Raiders’ chances against the heavily favored Ravens hinge on a stronger performance from the offensive line.
