Former Tennessee Vols quarterback Nathan Peterman was released by the New Orleans Saints on Friday to make room for wide receiver Samson Nakua, the older brother of Los Angeles Rams receiver Puka Nacua.
Puka Nacua had a standout rookie season with the Rams, recording 105 receptions for 1,486 yards and six touchdowns.
The Saints cut QB Nathan Peterman and signed WR Samson Nacua, Puka Nacua’s older brother.

Peterman, who began his college career at Tennessee before transferring to Pittsburgh, signed with the Saints earlier this offseason after spending the last two seasons with the Chicago Bears.
He was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft and spent two seasons there before joining the Oakland Raiders in 2018, where he remained through the 2021 season.

Peterman has appeared in 15 NFL games, holding a 1-4 record as a starter.
It’s possible the Saints could bring Peterman back to their roster or practice squad before the 2024 season begins, as roster moves are common during this time of year.
