Thomas Graham Jr., Jack Colletto, and Jonathan Ward are some of the players returning to Pittsburgh.

The Steelers are gradually building their practice squad following cutdown day. On Thursday, they announced the signing of eight players:

– Cornerbacks Anthony Averett, Zyon Gilbert, and Thomas Graham Jr.
– Defensive lineman Jacob Slade
– Fullback Jack Colletto
– Outside linebacker Marcus Haynes
– Running back Jonathan Ward
– Tight end Rodney Williams

Thomas Graham Jr. might be the most crucial addition since the Steelers are thin at slot cornerback for 2024. He had some first-team reps at that position during the summer.

Jack Colletto

Jack Colletto also saw some starting time as a fullback in the preseason, while Jonathan Ward and Jacob Slade showed promise as backups. Rodney Williams has been a reliable reserve tight end with special teams potential, and Averett brings valuable veteran experience to the practice squad.

Zyon Gilbert and Marcus Haynes are both relatively new to the team.

Additionally, three more spots are likely filled by running back Boston Scott, offensive lineman Doug Nester, and wide receiver Brandon Johnson, although this hasn’t been officially confirmed yet.

This leaves the Steelers with five open practice squad spots, plus one designated for an International Player Pathway Program player.

The team had IPPP defender Julius Welschof assigned for the season, but he was placed on injured reserve and later released with an injury settlement. There remains a chance he could rejoin the team in the future.
