The Giants boast one of the top pitching duos in MLB this season with Logan Webb and Blake Snell, and they are eager to keep them together for years to come.
San Francisco signed Snell to a relatively modest two-year, $62 million contract last offseason. After a slow start to the 2024 season, Snell has been among the league’s best pitchers in the second half and is expected to exercise his opt-out clause after the season.

Logan Webb recently appeared on “The Chris Rose Rotation” with Jomboy Media’s Chris Rose, where he was asked about Snell’s decision and his efforts to convince his teammate to stay with the Giants.
“I’m going to do everything I can … I hope they — I don’t know how it’s going to work out — but I kind of hope they do what they did with [Matt Chapman] and start the discussions early so we’re not competing with other teams,” Webb told Rose. “I’m sure there are teams in our division that will try hard to get him. Teams that need good starting pitching. He’s been the best in baseball since, what, the beginning of July? It’s been awesome to watch, and he’s one of my favorite teammates, so hopefully, we do everything we can to bring him back.”
The Giants faced a similar scenario with third baseman Matt Chapman, who, like Snell, was expected to opt out and test free agency before signing a six-year extension with the team on September 4.
Snell has enjoyed his time with the Giants, but it’s unclear if his agent, Scott Boras, has engaged in any extension talks with San Francisco this season. However, Giants president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi and his team are certainly interested in retaining the two-time Cy Young Award winner if both parties can’t reach an agreement during the season.
