RENTON, Wash. — The Seattle Seahawks will be without another key defensive player for at least four games, as starting safety was placed on injured reserve Wednesday. He, who has played every snap this season, has been dealing with a hand injury for the past two weeks, wearing a cast on his left hand in the last two games. He is eligible to return for the Seahawks’ Week 12 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.
In His’ absence, K’Von Wallace and Coby Bryant will step in as the team’s third and fourth safeties behind Julian Love. The Seahawks also signed Ty Okada from the practice squad for added depth.
This marks another setback for a defense that has been plagued by injuries for much of the past month. Last week, the team placed outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu on injured reserve, with hopes of his return later in the season. Rookie defensive tackle Byron Murphy II, Seattle’s first-round draft pick, practiced on a limited basis Wednesday as he recovers from a hamstring injury that kept him out of the past three games.
Injuries in Seattle’s secondary have been particularly challenging. Nickelback Artie Burns was placed on IR earlier this week, and cornerbacks Riq Woolen (ankle) and Tre Brown (ankle) are uncertain for Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons. Woolen missed last week’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle’s third consecutive defeat. Neither cornerback practiced Wednesday.

To address the depleted secondary, the Seahawks added cornerback Eric Garror to the practice squad. Head coach Mike Macdonald also shared updates on the offensive line, noting that right tackle George Fant (knee) is making progress but is unlikely to return from IR this week. Fant started the season with Abe Lucas on the physically unable to perform list, and Macdonald confirmed that Lucas’ practice window will not open this week.
