
NEW YORK — Left-handed pitcher has chosen to decline his $13.5 million option for the 2025 season with the New York Mets, making him a free agent for the third straight offseason, as reported by a source to ESPN.
The 32-year-old signed a deal in January that guaranteed him a $14.5 million salary for 2024. He finished the season with a 12-6 record and a 3.47 ERA across 32 starts, racking up 184 strikeouts and issuing 63 walks in 181⅔ innings.
After adjusting his arm slot midseason, He emerged as the Mets’ most effective starter, posting a 6-2 record and a 3.09 ERA in his last 12 outings. In the postseason, he made four starts, going 2-1 with a 4.74 ERA.

Last November, he opted out of the final year of a $25 million, two-year contract with San Francisco, forgoing a $12.5 million salary for 2024. He recorded a 7-6 record with a 4.44 ERA during his sole season with the Giants.
A seasoned major league player with nine years of experience, Manaea holds a career record of 77-62 and a 4.00 ERA over 198 starts and 30 relief appearances with teams including Oakland (2016-21), San Diego (2022), San Francisco, and the Mets.
