Roki Sasaki made his first appearance as a Los Angeles Dodger on Wednesday, throwing live batting practice to his new teammates. The 23-year-old showcased his fastball and slider as he kicked off the next phase of his baseball career.
On Friday morning, Sasaki revealed that he’s also starting a new chapter in his personal life. In an Instagram post featuring two Dodgers hats, he announced that he had gotten married. While the news wasn’t as surprising as Shohei Ohtani’s sudden marriage announcement last spring, it still caught fans off guard in an amusing way.

Using Google Translate, Sasaki expressed gratitude for the support he’s received and shared that he married a “non-celebrity.” He also admitted feeling both excitement and nerves as he embarks on this new journey in both his personal and professional life.

The wedding vows may not translate perfectly, but as long as his pitches do, the couple should be in good shape.
Sasaki is set to make his Cactus League debut next week.
