Seattle Seahawks running back had a standout performance in the team’s Week 1 win against the Denver Broncos, rushing for 103 yards on 20 carries and scoring a touchdown. However, he left the game late in the second half due to an oblique injury.
Walker’s availability for the Seahawks’ Week 2 matchup against the New England Patriots is now uncertain because of the injury, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
“Seahawks RB did not practice today due to an oblique injury,” Schefter posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Walker has two more opportunities to practice on Thursday and Friday before the Seahawks travel to New England for the game between two 1-0 teams. He is currently listed as questionable for Sunday’s contest.
Walker set the pace for Seattle’s offense in the second half of Sunday’s game after a rough first half in which they conceded two safeties. Once Walker found his rhythm, it opened up the offense, and his 23-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter gave the Seahawks a lead they never relinquished.

If Walker is unable to play on Sunday, backup running back Zach Charbonnet is expected to take on a larger role in offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb’s backfield. Charbonnet has previously stepped up for Walker and has impressed with his physical, between-the-tackles running style, aligning well with the identity Seattle is establishing under Mike Macdonald.
Charbonnet also showcased his receiving skills on Sunday, catching a 30-yard touchdown pass from Geno Smith in the fourth quarter. The UCLA product has shown he can contribute in all facets of the game if Walker is sidelined, but Seattle will miss Walker’s unique blend of speed and power if he is not available.
