LSU football is gearing up for one of its most crucial games of the season as it heads to College Station to face the Texas A&M Aggies. Both teams remain undefeated in SEC play and hold top 15 AP rankings, giving Saturday night’s game significant implications for the College Football Playoff.
LSU might be in better shape health-wise for the matchup, as wide receiver., who has yet to play this season, is expected to suit up, according to Pete Nakos of On3 Sports.
“LSU wide receiver. has been upgraded to probable for Saturday against Texas A&M, positioning him to make his season debut,” Nakos posted on X, formerly Twitter.
Hilton Jr. appeared in 11 games last season, recording 13 catches for 225 yards and two touchdowns. A four-star recruit in the 2021 class, Hilton Jr. brings the talent to be an asset in LSU’s offense.
However, his role in the upcoming game remains uncertain. Coming off an ankle injury sustained during fall camp, Hilton Jr. may need some time to regain his full form before contributing at his peak level.
LSU-Texas A&M has huge SEC title implications
LSU and Texas A&M will face off at Kyle Field on Saturday night as the SEC’s last two unbeaten teams this season. By the end of the game, one of them will stand alone atop the conference as the regular season nears its close.
Both teams stumbled in challenging non-conference openers — LSU fell to USC in Las Vegas, while Texas A&M suffered a close loss at home to Notre Dame. Since then, however, they’ve each hit their stride.
Three weeks ago, Texas A&M dominated Missouri 41-10 in an impressive win; Missouri remains a top-25 team. Meanwhile, LSU enters the game fresh from a thrilling overtime win over Ole Miss and a solid road victory against Arkansas last weekend.

The matchup will also feature two quarterbacks with NFL potential. Texas A&M’s Conner Weigman has dealt with injuries this season, but draft analysts admire his physical tools. Garrett Nussmeier of LSU is currently playing at an elite level and has quickly climbed draft rankings.
Texas A&M has yet to reach the College Football Playoff, while LSU hasn’t been back since winning the national title in the 2019-20 season. With the new 12-team playoff format, both teams have a strong shot at making it this season. Saturday’s game could play a key role in determining which team gets there.
