Free agent outfielder Juan Soto steps into the spotlight, approaching a table laden with microphones, poised for a press conference.

“This wasn’t an easy decision,” Soto begins, speaking directly to the camera.

For weeks, fans of the Mets and Yankees have been on edge, eager to learn where the four-time All-Star will land. Could this be the moment they’ve been waiting for, revealed in a social media video?

“But after meeting with a team, it became clear where I wanted to be,” Soto continues.

The 26-year-old right fielder then reaches under the table and retrieves a hat. Initially, the logo is hard to discern. Is it the Yankees, the Mets, or one of the other teams rumored to be in the mix?

“That being said,” Soto announces, placing the hat on his head. The logo comes into focus—it reads “CELSIUS.”

After taking a sip of the energy drink, he smirks and says, “What, you thought this was a different kind of announcement?”

Baseball fans around the world have been eagerly awaiting news of Soto’s signing. Unfortunately, they’ll have to wait a bit longer, though negotiations seem to be moving forward.

Here’s the latest:

Soto has reportedly met with at least five teams—the Mets, Yankees, Blue Jays, Red Sox, and Dodgers. Reports about the nature of those meetings vary.

On Sunday, ESPN’s Buster Olney stated that the meetings were merely “get-to-know-you” sessions. However, Randy Miller of NJ Advance Media countered that on Monday, citing a source who claimed offers have indeed been made.

While there’s speculation that Soto could make his decision during the Winter Meetings from Dec. 9-12, even that timeline remains uncertain. For now, fans can only continue to wait.
