SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KGO) — A report suggests that the Oakland A’s move to Sacramento’s Sutter Health Park next season may be at risk.

According to KFBK news radio in Sacramento, Major League Baseball has not yet approved the proposed upgrades to the stadium, including the installation of artificial turf.

A Fan's Notes

There are safety concerns about using artificial turf in the open-air stadium due to Sacramento’s triple-digit heat.

Currently, the A’s final game at the Oakland Coliseum is scheduled for September 26.

Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao, in an interview with ABC7’s Midday Live, expressed doubt about this being the A’s last game in Oakland, stating, “If the A’s want to stay in Oakland, we absolutely welcome them back to the negotiation table.”

Despite this, the A’s remain determined to leave Oakland. The team’s director of baseball communications released a statement on Thursday affirming, “It is a certainty that the A’s will play their 2025 season in Sacramento as planned. MLB is continuing to work productively with the MLBPA on the details of the transition.”
