The Carolina Panthers made an unexpected announcement regarding their starting quarterback for Week 10.
Head coach Dave Canales confirmed on Wednesday that Bryce Young will start against the New York Giants. Canales noted that the team is pleased with Young’s recent progress and wants to give him another opportunity to build on it.
Young reclaimed the starting role in Week 8 after Andy Dalton sustained a thumb injury and retained it in Week 9, with Canales citing caution around Dalton’s recovery. Now, the Panthers are clearly starting Young due to their optimism about his performance.

In Week 8, Young completed 24 of 37 passes for 224 yards, followed by a Week 9 performance with 16 completions on 26 attempts for 171 yards, a touchdown, and an interception in a victory over New Orleans. He’ll look to continue his development in Munich against the Giants, who share the Panthers’ 2-7 record.
Young’s starting position may still be evaluated on a weekly basis, but if he keeps showing potential, he could continue starting over Dalton.
