Ivan Demidov’s health has been a hot topic recently. While he has resumed training with SKA and cleared his medical tests in Russia, concerns remain due to the serious ankle injury he suffered last season.

In a recent interview with Responsible Gambling, Demidov provided updates on his rehabilitation, revealing that he’s not yet fully recovered. His ankle continues to bother him, so he hasn’t started intensive training yet. He’s maintaining his fitness in the gym and expects to be able to train at full strength in about a week.

Demidov is being cautious, not wanting to risk aggravating his injury by pushing too hard, either on or off the ice. This approach reflects his maturity, knowing the importance of fully healing before the season begins. With the SKA St. Petersburg season still a month away, he has time to recover.
However, it will be interesting to see how Demidov is utilized at the start of the season, given his recovery status and his relative inexperience compared to other SKA players.
It will be up to him to prove to head coach Roman Rotenberg that he deserves a significant role in the lineup. This won’t be easy, especially considering how young players are often handled in the KHL, but Demidov has the talent to make an impact.
