The running back from Mississippi is set to announce his commitment next week.
The Crimson Tide’s recruiting momentum has slowed down due to the NCAA’s current dead period, but with five months remaining until December’s early signing date, Alabama still has ample time to finalize the last few spots in its 2025 football recruiting class.

Alabama currently has 21 commitments in its 2025 class and is ranked No. 2 by 247Sports. Although there are only a few scholarships left to fill, the Crimson Tide is focused on securing three top-tier prospects who could make a significant impact wherever they choose to play college football.
AK Dear
Akylin Dear, the top-ranked running back in the Class of 2025, announced that he will make his commitment on August 20. Hailing from Quitman, Mississippi, Dear was previously committed to Ole Miss before reopening his recruitment in June. Alabama has been actively pursuing him throughout the entire process. As a junior, the 5-star talent rushed for over 2,000 yards and scored 27 touchdowns. He is currently considering Alabama, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State.
Justus Terry
Alabama’s recruiting class could get a major boost with the addition of 5-star defensive lineman Justus Terry. Initially committed to Southern Cal, Terry reopened his recruitment over the summer. Analysts now believe it’s a close contest between Georgia and Alabama for his commitment. Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 275 pounds, Terry has expressed that he’s not in a hurry to decide and will probably extend the process until December.
Ty Jackson
The 4-star linebacker from Loxahatchee, Florida, is one of the last highly-rated defenders in the Class of 2025 who has yet to commit. Jackson is currently weighing offers from FSU, Florida, and Alabama, among other schools. On3 Sports recognized him as a preseason high school All-American for the upcoming season, following a junior year where he recorded 135 tackles. Jackson is reportedly in no hurry to make his college decision.
While Alabama football is nearing the end of its Class of 2025 recruiting process, the basketball program is just beginning to ramp up. The Crimson Tide is once again targeting several highly-ranked recruits as Nate Oats continues to demonstrate his leadership in college basketball.
AJ Dybantsa
The top player in the Class of 2025 has announced that he will make an official visit to Tuscaloosa in September when Alabama faces off against the Georgia Bulldogs in football. Standing at 6-foot-9 and weighing 200 pounds, Dybantsa demonstrates an impressive ability to score at all three levels for a high school athlete. His combination of length and skill makes him a perfect match for Oats’ system, and he has strong one-and-done potential.
Jasper Johnson
The 5-star shooting guard is said to be close to making a decision after touring college campuses over the summer. Johnson, originally from Kentucky and currently playing for Overtime Elite in Atlanta, has deep ties to his home state. The 6-foot-4 left-handed player visited Tuscaloosa officially in June and declared Alabama as his top choice in late July. However, Kentucky and North Carolina have made strong efforts, leaving his final decision uncertain.
