The White Sox received several prospects, including Miguel Vargas, the Dodgers’ Minor League Player of the Year in 2022. Notably, Edman has not played this season due to wrist and ankle injuries, but he has started rehabbing and is close to returning. He can play shortstop and center field, both of which are positions the Dodgers need to strengthen. Kopech, a former top prospect, adds a high-strikeout arm to the Dodgers despite his ongoing command issues.
For the Cardinals, Fedde is expected to enhance their rotation for a potential playoff run. After spending a year in Korea, the 31-year-old has excelled in his return to MLB this season, with a 3.11 ERA in 21 starts, making him a potentially valuable under-the-radar addition.
The Dodgers may continue making moves, as they have been consistently linked to acquiring another starter. However, this trade is already a significant step in fortifying their roster for the remainder of the season.
