The Auburn football recruiting class of 2025 is steadily expanding and climbing the rankings, but one crucial element is still missing: a quarterback. Head coach Hugh Freeze and his staff initially focused on Julian “Juju” Lewis as their top target, but recently, the attention has shifted towards Deuce Knight.

Knight, a 5-star quarterback from Lucedale, Mississippi, committed to Notre Dame in September 2023 but has now become a prime target for Auburn. He and his family visited the Plains for Big Cat Weekend earlier this summer, where he received Auburn’s full recruiting pitch.

Auburn football tight end commit Ryan Ghea, who joined the Tigers in November of last year, has taken on a recruiting role for his class. Ghea told Auburn Rivals that he plans to attend every Auburn home game this season and is actively working to persuade Knight to flip his commitment to Auburn.

“I’ve got a lot of recruiting to do,” Ghea said. “Hopefully, we can secure our QB in the next two weeks.”

According to Auburn Rivals, Ghea remains in regular contact with Knight, who is drawing significant attention. Ghea is hopeful that Knight will commit to Auburn before the season starts on August 31.

As of now, Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class includes 22 commits and is ranked #5 overall and #4 in the SEC.
