The Seattle Seahawks made several changes to their running back group as star rusher Ken Walker continues to recover from a foot injury that has kept him out of recent training camp sessions.
“Third straight practice of Kenneth Walker resting what coach Mike Macdonald Saturday called soreness in his foot,” reported Gregg Bell of The News Tribune in an August 4, 2025, post on X. “Zach Charbonnet the fill-in lead back again for 11th practice of Seahawks training camp.”

To help bolster their depth, the Seahawks signed rookie running back Anthony Tyus. Here’s a look at the team’s most recent roster updates.
The Seahawks Cut Ties With RB Donovan Kaufman Just 1 Week After Signing
Just a week after signing Donovan Kaufman, the Seattle Seahawks released the running back to make room for rookie Sieh Tyus, giving him a shot to compete for a roster spot.
Tyus is coming off an impressive senior year at Ohio, where he racked up 1,215 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on 237 carries during the 2024 season.
He also contributed in the passing game with 16 receptions for 137 yards and two touchdowns. Before transferring to Ohio, Tyus spent three seasons playing in the Big Ten at Northwestern.
Seahawks HC Mike Macdonald on RB Ken Walker’s Injury: ‘We’re Just Taking Care of Him Right Now Throughout Camp’

Along with Kenneth Walker’s injury, the Seahawks also placed running back Kenny McIntosh on injured reserve after he suffered a knee injury during training camp. While head coach Mike Macdonald downplayed the severity of Walker’s issue, his injury history is still a point of concern for fans.
“It’s just some soreness in his foot right now, but he’s doing fine,” Macdonald said on August 2, according to John Boyle of Seahawks.com. “We’re just being cautious with him during camp.”
Here’s What the Seahawks Can Expect From New RB Anthony Tyus
Before joining the Seahawks, Tyus had a short stint with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent. James Jimenez of SB Nation’s Hustle Belt offered insight into Tyus’ NFL potential.

“Tyus played a key role in Ohio’s offense in 2024 after transferring from Northwestern,” Jimenez wrote in his April 10 article, 2025 NFL Draft Pro Day Prospect Report: Ohio Bobcats. “He logged 237 carries for 1,215 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, while also adding 137 receiving yards and a touchdown through the air.”
“It was a standout season for the former depth piece at Northwestern, where he appeared in 12 games over three years. His performance was instrumental in helping Ohio capture the MAC title and earned him second-team All-MAC honors.”

As for Kenneth Walker, his current injury raises some concerns, especially considering he missed six games during the 2024 season and also dealt with health setbacks earlier this offseason that kept him out of practices. Rookie Damien Martinez is a player to keep an eye on, as his responsibilities may grow if Walker’s condition worsens.
