The New York Yankees announced on Saturday that they have acquired versatile infielder/outfielder Amed Rosario from the Washington Nationals in exchange for right-handed pitcher Clayton Beeter and outfield prospect Browm Martínez.

Rosario, 29, has played in 47 games for the Nationals this season, batting .270 with a .310 on-base percentage and a .426 slugging percentage. He’s collected 40 hits, including eight doubles and five home runs, with 18 RBIs and 19 runs scored.

He’s performed especially well against left-handed pitching, hitting .299 with a .333 OBP and .483 SLG. Defensively, Rosario has seen time at third base, second base, shortstop, and even right field in 2025.

Over his nine-year MLB career, Rosario has played for six other teams—beginning with the Mets, then the Guardians, Dodgers (two separate stints), Rays, Reds, and Nationals. He holds a career batting line of .273/.308/.399 with 998 hits, 68 home runs, 384 RBIs, and 110 stolen bases across 989 games. He’s had consistent success against lefties throughout his career, batting .298 with 27 homers and 75 doubles.

Since 2018, Rosario’s 42 triples rank second in the majors. He’s also been productive with runners in scoring position, posting a .298 batting average and .335 OBP since 2021 in those situations.

Defensively, Rosario has played extensively at shortstop (767 games), but has also logged innings at second base, third base, and all three outfield positions.

Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Rosario was originally signed by the Mets in 2012. He was part of the high-profile trade that sent Francisco Lindor to New York in 2021. He’s been on the move several times since—traded to the Dodgers in 2023, signed with the Rays in early 2024, then traded back to L.A. before stints with the Reds and Nationals.

Clayton Beeter, 26, made two appearances out of the Yankees bullpen this season, allowing six earned runs over 3.2 innings. He spent most of the year at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, where he posted a 3.10 ERA with 33 strikeouts in 20.1 innings across 18 games. Acquired from the Dodgers in 2022 in the Joey Gallo trade, Beeter was originally drafted by L.A. in 2020.

  1. Browm Martínez, 18, is a promising young outfielder who has batted .404 with 21 runs and 13 stolen bases in 18 games this season in the Dominican Summer League. Across two minor league seasons, he’s hitting .320 with 35 RBIs and 34 steals in 56 games. Also from Santo Domingo, Martínez signed with the Yankees as an international free agent in January 2024.
