The Angels have signed left-handed reliever to a minor league deal, according to the MLB.com transaction log. He had been pitching for El Águila de Veracruz in the Mexican League and will report to Triple-A Salt Lake. He is represented by Premier Talent Sports & Entertainment.
Peralta, 27, spent most of his professional career with the White Sox organization. He appeared in the majors in both 2023 and 2024, compiling a 4.37 ERA over 35 innings with a 17.9% strikeout rate, 11.1% walk rate, and a 41.7% ground-ball rate. A soft-throwing lefty, his fastball averages just 89.3 mph, complemented by a slider around 78 mph and a changeup just under 82 mph.

He began the 2025 season in Mexico, performing well in a hitter-friendly environment — and notably, as a starter. While nearly all his professional appearances have come in relief (25 in MLB and 141 of 150 in the minors), he made four starts for Veracruz, posting a 2.53 ERA with 22 strikeouts and just two walks in 21 1/3 innings (26.5% K rate, 2.4% BB rate). Prior to this stint, he had never pitched more than four innings in a single professional outing.
It’s uncertain what role Peralta will fill with the Angels. His time as a starter in Mexico was reportedly to increase his flexibility rather than signal a permanent role change.
The Angels’ rotation ranks 19th in MLB with a 3.99 ERA, while struggling arms like Jack Kochanowicz (4.71 ERA) and Kyle Hendricks (5.32 ERA) have contributed to inconsistent results. Meanwhile, the bullpen has been a major weakness, with an MLB-worst 6.82 ERA and the recent loss of Ben Joyce to season-ending shoulder surgery.
Peralta has a 4.44 ERA in 50 2/3 relief innings at Triple-A this year and a 4.80 career ERA across 125 2/3 Triple-A innings, along with a 21.1% strikeout rate and 8.8% walk rate.
