The Dallas Cowboys are entering the 2024 season with the familiar goal they’ve held since Mike McCarthy became head coach: winning the Super Bowl.
However, despite strong regular seasons, the Cowboys have faced early playoff exits each year under McCarthy.
Although there’s much to be optimistic about for the upcoming season, a recent report has emerged that might once again jeopardize Dallas’s success.

Worrisome Report Surfaces Regarding The 2024 Dallas Cowboys
Kenneth Teape of NFL Analysis suggests that the Dallas Cowboys are under significant pressure to perform in 2024. If they fail to overcome their NFC Championship Game drought, major changes could be imminent.
This offseason, attention has focused on quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, both seeking contract extensions with little progress made. Defensively, the team must adjust to the loss of defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, who became the head coach of the Washington Commanders under new owner Josh Harris.
Despite these challenges, there is optimism about the Cowboys’ prospects. Bookmakers have them as strong playoff contenders with -260 odds to make the postseason and +150 odds to win the NFC East for the second consecutive year, with the Philadelphia Eagles as their main competition.
However, NFL writer James Dator considers the Cowboys one of the more overrated teams entering training camp. He notes that salary cap issues prevented significant roster upgrades and led to the loss of players like Dorance Armstrong, Tyler Biadasz, Tony Pollard, and Tyron Smith. Teape points out that the Cowboys did little to improve this offseason, making their 2024 roster similar to the 2023 one, and “running it back” is rarely effective in professional sports, even for Super Bowl champions.
It will be interesting to see how Dallas performs this season.
