CONFIRMED: Bruins Officially Add Top Stars To Roster

On Friday, the Boston Bruins announced that they have signed defensemen Michael Callahan and Alec Regula to one-year, two-way contracts with NHL cap hits of $775,000 each.

Michael Callahan, 24, notched four goals and 13 assists, totaling 17 points in 70 games last season with the Providence Bruins, the team’s AHL affiliate. The 6-foot-2 defenseman has accumulated six goals and 21 assists for 27 points in 140 career AHL regular-season games.

Prior to his professional career, Callahan played four seasons with the Providence Friars, recording 13 goals and 53 assists for 66 points in 138 games from 2018-19 to 2021-22. A Franklin, Massachusetts native, he was selected by the Arizona Coyotes in the fifth round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft and spent parts of two seasons in the USHL, where he tallied three goals and 15 assists for 18 points in 61 games with the Youngstown Phantoms, Central Illinois Flying Aces, and Bloomington Thunder.

Alec Regula, 23, contributed four goals and 22 assists for 26 points in 55 games with Providence in the 2023-24 season. Standing at 6-foot-4, Regula has amassed 16 goals and 61 assists for 77 points in 163 career AHL regular-season games. Before joining the Bruins’ organization last season, the West Bloomfield, Michigan native spent three seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks, playing 22 NHL games and over 100 games with the Rockford IceHogs, their AHL affiliate.

Regula played three seasons with the London Knights in the Ontario Hockey League before turning professional, scoring 45 goals and 79 assists for 124 points in 189 regular-season OHL games. During his final OHL season, he registered 27 goals and 33 assists for 60 points in 56 games before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
