The Buffalo Bills’ wide receiver lineup will look different this season after trading star receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans and losing Gabe Davis in free agency.
This development raises significant concerns for the Bills as they enter the 2024 NFL season with many uncertainties, placing increased pressure on MVP candidate Josh Allen at quarterback.

Buffalo did bring in veterans Curtis Samuel and Marquez Valdes-Scantling during free agency and drafted Keon Coleman in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
While the wide receiver group isn’t particularly strong, if anyone can make it work, it’s Allen. As for how the Bills’ depth chart will shape up for Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals, there’s been some news.
According to Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic, Valdes-Scantling might be in danger of being cut.
“As camp has progressed, it’s becoming clear that the top five receivers may only consist of four, with Valdes-Scantling having to fight his way back into the mix,” Buscaglia reported. “He has faded into the background during recent practices, hasn’t made a significant impact in team drills, and his opportunities with Josh Allen and the first team have decreased.”
Buscaglia also mentioned that Coleman, Samuel, Khalil Shakir, and Mack Hollins have surpassed Valdes-Scantling in the pecking order.
Valdes-Scantling, 29, was released by the Kansas City Chiefs this past spring after two seasons with the team. Last year, he recorded just 21 receptions for 315 yards and one touchdown. Before that, he spent four seasons with the Green Bay Packers, with his best year coming in 2020, when he logged 33 receptions for 690 yards and six touchdowns.
