The Winnipeg Jets have agreed to a two-year contract extension carrying a salary cap hit of $3.25 million per season.

Darren Dreger of TSN has reported that the Winnipeg Jets have signed forward to a two-year extension. The deal is a bridge contract with an average annual salary of $3.25 million, with $3 million in the first year and $3.5 million in the second.

This is a win for the Jets, as they secure Him at a favorable cap hit and get him back in the lineup quickly. While he had been present at team and NHL events, he hadn’t participated in preseason or training camp activities.

For Him, it’s also a solid contract, giving him the opportunity to surpass expectations and prove his worth beyond the current salary.

Elliotte Friedman previously mentioned on the 32 Thoughts Podcast that a deal might be imminent, stating, “…we’ll see what happens early in the week.” He also noted that prolonged negotiations could have led to growing frustrations, but with this deal now finalized, that potential issue has been avoided.

Perfetti Has a Chance To Prove He’s a Big Part Of Jets Future

Perfetti, 22, tallied 19 goals and 38 points across 71 games last season. His only playoff appearance occurred in Game 5 against the Colorado Avalanche, having been a healthy scratch for the first four games of the series.

Late in the season, he seemed to lose favor with former head coach Rick Bowness. Nonetheless, the team remains confident in his potential, and Perfetti aims to prove he’s deserving of a longer-term commitment as the new season begins.
