The San Diego Padres face the challenge of finding an outfielder to replace Jurickson Profar in left field. Profar had a stellar breakout season last year, posting a .280/.459/.839 slash line with 24 home runs and 85 RBIs. Replacing that level of production won’t be easy.

The simplest solution for the Padres seems obvious: re-sign Him. That’s exactly what R.J. Anderson of CBS Sports anticipates. Anderson recently predicted that He will rejoin San Diego this offseason. Meanwhile, Jon Heyman of the New York Post projects Him to land a two-year deal worth $26 million.

“Profar is a tricky player to assess: all the underlying metrics suggest last season’s improvements were legitimate,” Anderson noted. “At the same time, teams are right to question breakout seasons at age 31.

Given these factors, a return to the Padres always seemed like the most likely outcome. Of course, one of the teams that missed out on Teoscar Hernández — perhaps the Red Sox, Mets, or another club — might take a chance on Profar, hoping he can replicate his performance.”

While Profar excelled in 2024, it was by far the best season of his career. As a result, he’s unlikely to command more than $20 million per year.

Considering his potential price and last year’s production, bringing Profar back on a two- or three-year deal seems like a no-brainer for the Padres, especially with him complementing Fernando Tatis Jr. in the lineup.
