The Houston Texans are reintroducing a familiar name.
Following the injury to cornerback Jeff Okudah, who has been placed on injured reserve, the Houston Texans have made a series of moves to address his absence.
On Wednesday, the team announced several roster changes, including the return of a familiar face. The 29-year-old defensive back is now set to embark on his fourth season with the Texans. King first joined the team in 2021 as part of their rebuild and has since contributed significantly on special teams. Although he was released in August during roster cuts, his return provides a potentially valuable replacement for Okudah.
King brings a strong resume, having accumulated 473 tackles, nine interceptions, seven fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles, 35 pass defenses, and 9.5 sacks throughout his career. Despite not making the roster this year, King has demonstrated his capability by rejoining the Texans for seven games last season after a brief stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he recorded 47 tackles, an interception, and two pass defenses.

The Texans are gearing up for their Week 2 matchup against the Chicago Bears, who are led by promising rookie quarterback Caleb Williams. While the Texans’ offense, directed by second-year quarterback C.J. Stroud, is expected to perform well, the defense will need to step up after allowing several big plays in Week 1.
