The Seattle Seahawks have dealt with several minor injuries during training camp, but most affected players have made their way back. That could also be the case with their latest setback, and fans will be hoping for good news, as the depth at the position is already thin.
Late in Monday’s practice, linebacker Tyrice Knight sustained a knee injury. The team conducted imaging on the knee, but no official update has been provided regarding his return timeline. What is certain is that Knight will miss the first preseason game.

He was absent from Tuesday’s practice after leaving the field hurt the day before and had his knee wrapped — a detail that can sometimes signal a more serious issue.
The Seattle Seahawks could be missing linebacker Tyrice Knight for a bit
In his first year with Seattle, head coach Mike Macdonald has already shown he won’t reveal much about the extent of player injuries. He described linebacker Tyrice Knight as “day-to-day” after a “little tangle with his knee,” adding that the team’s next steps would depend on imaging results.

The hope is that the injury is minor — perhaps minor enough that Knight could suit up if Week 1 were next week — but knee issues can linger, and there’s no guarantee the second-year linebacker will return quickly.
Seattle’s concern is that the depth behind Knight is largely untested. A 2024 fourth-round pick, Knight emerged as a surprise starter midway through last season after free-agent pickups Jerome Baker and Tyrel Dodson flopped and were moved on from. Knight adapted quickly and played well.

Behind him, Patrick O’Connell and Drake Thomas are the next options. O’Connell, now in his third year, has consistently impressed in camp but hasn’t played a single defensive snap. Thomas, entering his third season as well, has logged 41 defensive snaps and recorded 13 tackles in 2024. He has strong athleticism and coverage potential, making him the likely fill-in if Knight misses time.

Still, there’s a steep drop-off from Knight to his backups, and his absence would hurt Seattle’s defense. The team will be hoping the imaging reveals nothing serious so Knight can return to practice as soon as next week.
