The Oakland Ballers have signed utility player Pat Monteith for the 2025 season, and he will join the team for their upcoming spring training in May.

Monteith, who played all four years of his college career at Division II North Greenville University, has a strong connection to the A’s organization. His college coach, Landon Powell, was a former Oakland A’s catcher who played for the team from 2009-2011. Powell was drafted by the A’s in the first round of the 2004 MLB Draft.

During his time at NGU, Monteith had an impressive career, including a National Championship in 2022 and an All-American selection in 2023. Over 216 career games, he posted a .336/.481/.622 slash line with 53 home runs and 183 RBIs. In his final season, he batted .304 with a .430 on-base percentage, 12 home runs, and 15 stolen bases.

Monteith’s athleticism allowed him to play multiple positions during his college career. He was an everyday starting third baseman and center fielder in consecutive seasons and also played at first base, left field, right field, and shortstop.

At 23 years old, the Charleston, South Carolina native will be looking to make an impact in his first season with the Ballers.

The team has been busy this offseason, and with the addition of Monteith, the Ballers now have 12 players announced for the 2025 campaign. Other signings include outfielder Mich O’Hara (announced yesterday), right-handed pitchers Connor Sullivan, Kyle Pijaszek, Connor Richardson, Zach St. Pierre, and Brody Eglite, catcher Tyler Lozano, shortstop Tremayne Cobb Jr., first baseman Christian Almanza, and outfielder Tyler Best. Cameron Bufford, who could play corner infield or outfield, has also joined the roster.

With the addition of O’Hara and Monteith this week, the Ballers are about halfway to completing their 2025 roster. There’s a nice mix of re-signings and promising young talent straight out of college, setting the stage for an exciting 2025 season.
