The White Sox have released Him from his minor league contract, as noted in the MiLB.com transaction log. Drury had been sidelined since May 8 due to injury.
He last played for Triple-A Charlotte on April 26. Their manager, Sergio Santos, recently told Jeff Cohen of Future Sox that He injured his wrist after being hit by a pitch.
Although he could still field, the injury caused discomfort when swinging. Prior to going on the injured list, he played in just 10 games and batted .179/.319/.282 with one home run in 47 plate appearances.
Drury initially signed a minor league deal with Chicago shortly before Spring Training and made a strong impression, hitting .410 in 13 exhibition games. However, he fractured his left thumb just before the season began, which led to his release. The White Sox later re-signed him in mid-April once he had recovered.

Details on his current injury remain unclear, but once healthy, Drury is likely to attract interest for another minor league opportunity. He won a Silver Slugger award in 2022 and was a productive hitter as recently as 2023, when he hit .262/.306/.497 with 30 doubles and 26 homers for the Angels.
However, his performance dropped sharply last season, posting a .169/.242/.228 line in 360 plate appearances, which led to his current status as a minor league free agent.
