One position group that’s absolutely essential for an NFL team’s success is the offensive line—there’s really no debate about that. The OL sets the foundation for the entire offense, taking on the critical role of protecting the quarterback and more.
A major factor in the Denver Broncos’ strong performance during the 2024 NFL season was their elite offensive line, which ESPN ranked first in both pass protection and run blocking.

While some may have believed the Detroit Lions had the league’s best offensive line, the unexpected retirement of Pro Bowl center Frank Ragnow could shift that distinction firmly in Denver’s favor.
Frank Ragnow’s retirement could be good news for the Broncos
Denver won’t be receiving a trophy for having the NFL’s top offensive line, but the recognition is still well-deserved. Before Sean Payton’s arrival in 2023, the Broncos often struggled to put together a solid offensive front.

Some of those struggles may have stemmed from subpar quarterback play. While the 2023 O-line looked strong on paper, Russell Wilson’s tendency to take a high number of sacks hurt the unit’s overall perception. In contrast, things improved significantly in 2024 with Bo Nix at quarterback.
Nix excelled at avoiding pressure, getting sacked just 24 times during the regular season. With the same group of starters likely returning in 2025, there’s reason to believe the offensive line could be even better moving forward.
Overall, it’s an exciting time in Broncos Country. The team is trending upward—and they just might boast the best offensive line in the league.
