Veteran edge rusher Tyus Bowser is set to join the Seattle Seahawks.
After missing out on signing veteran defensive end Brent Urban during free agency, first-year Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald is reconnecting with another former player. Reports indicate that free agent outside linebacker Tyus Bowser is joining the Seahawks’ practice squad.

Macdonald previously served as Bowser’s defensive coordinator during his last two seasons with the Ravens, although Bowser didn’t play at all in 2023. After sitting out the first eight games of the 2022 season due to a torn Achilles, Bowser returned to play the final nine games of Macdonald’s first season leading Baltimore’s defense. He made four starts, recording three sacks, seven quarterback hits, and four tackles for loss, including postseason action.
Drafted in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Houston, Bowser was one of the NFL’s most versatile linebackers when healthy, excelling both as a pass rusher and in coverage. He led the Ravens in sacks in 2021 with seven.

The Ravens released the 29-year-old in March to save $5.5 million in salary cap space before the new league year. Bowser now joins a Seahawks’ pass rush missing veteran leader Uchenna Nwosu, who will be sidelined at the start of the season with a sprained MCL suffered in the team’s preseason finale.
Since Bowser wasn’t on any team’s roster during training camp or the preseason, signing to the practice squad will give him the opportunity to regain football shape.
