The San Diego Padres have been plagued by injuries throughout this MLB season, and on Friday night in Pittsburgh, their star outfielder became the latest casualty.
In the third inning, Fernando Tatis Jr. was struck on the left forearm by a 93 mph pitch from Pirates pitcher Mitch Keller while at the plate.
Tatis collapsed in visible pain, prompting the Padres’ medical team to rush to his aid.

After being examined near the batter’s box for several minutes, Tatis was able to walk off the field with assistance. A noticeable welt had already formed on his forearm where the pitch made contact.
