Over the past few years, New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave has often been the subject of trade speculation.

Despite the consistent rumors, no deal has materialized, and Olave is preparing to return for the 2025 season in New Orleans.

Recent reports revealed that both the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers expressed interest in acquiring Olave, but the Saints turned them down.

Olave has shown flashes of star potential early in his NFL career, though injuries—particularly concussions—have been a recurring issue. He’s aiming for a breakout year in 2025.

Kellen Moore, the Saints’ new head coach fresh off a Super Bowl win as the Eagles’ offensive coordinator, addressed the trade chatter involving Olave.

“I wouldn’t worry too much about that,” Moore said. “We feel really, really good about Chris. He’s had a strong offseason, he’s had a strong start to his career, and we believe he has a bright future ahead.”

In 39 career games, the 24-year-old receiver has totaled 191 catches for 2,565 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was limited to just eight games last season.

In 2023, Olave delivered a strong performance, recording 87 receptions for 1,123 yards and five touchdowns across 16 games. He showcased the top-tier talent that led the Saints to select him 11th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft.

While the team could reconsider its stance in the future, for now, Moore and the Saints appear committed to Olave as a core part of their long-term plans.

Olave’s role becomes even more critical heading into 2025, especially after veteran quarterback Derek Carr retired due to a shoulder injury.

New Orleans is expected to start one of three young quarterbacks—Spencer Rattler, Tyler Shough, or Jake Haener. Whoever wins the job will need reliable targets, and Olave has the potential to be that go-to option—provided he stays healthy.

Only time will tell if Olave can avoid further injuries and fulfill his potential, but for now, the Saints seem firmly behind their young receiver.
