With NFL free agency fast approaching, the Los Angeles Rams have already begun reshaping their roster, highlighted by securing quarterback Matthew Stafford for two more years.
Pro Football Focus (PFF), known for its detailed player evaluations, has identified the “perfect” free agent signing for each team.
With the Rams’ offense largely settled—aside from the ongoing Cooper Kupp situation—their primary focus in free agency is expected to be on the defensive side of the ball.
One potential fit is former New England Patriots cornerback Jonathan Jones. At 31, Jones remains an effective Cover 3 corner, ranking 14th among qualified players per PFF. His skill set aligns well with Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula’s scheme, making him an ideal target to bolster the secondary.

Although Jones hasn’t recorded an interception over the past two seasons, his consistent coverage ability and veteran experience make him a valuable addition. Pairing him with Darius Williams would give the Rams a strong cornerback duo, with Jones providing stability and complementing Williams’s playmaking ability.
As the legal tampering period begins Monday and free agency officially opens Wednesday, the Rams will look to solidify their defense and fill key roster needs.
